VIDEO: No fatalities in Jesus Dome fire

The fire which engulfed the DCC has been extinguished.

PARAMEDICS on scene at a massive blaze at the Durban Christian Centre,  popularly known as the Jesus Dome confirmed no injuries or fatalities had been reported as a result of the fire. However, a policeman who was knocked down close to the scene had been transported to hospital and is in a stable condition.

Garrith Jamieson of Rescue Care said the fire was extinguished and commended the Durban Fire Department.

ER24’s Chitra Bodasing said fire fighters worked tirelessly to douse the inferno that erupted at the large Garth Road church in Mayville, Durban.

“When paramedics arrived on scene they found the roof and part of the building structure alight. Fortunately no injuries have been reported at this stage,” she said.

Meanwhile Jamieson said motorists should steer clear of the area.

The exact cause of the fire is unknown, reports received claim it was an electrical fault.
