Point SAPS take hard line on crime

Eleven drunk-driving suspects were arrested over the past weekend operation.

EFFORTS by Point police to take proactive measures to clean up their area of criminals shows in the positive results of the weekend.

According to Captain BJ Simelane, on Friday, 20 May, the Point SAPS crime prevention under supervision of Captain P Parthab conducted a successful Stop-and-Search operation and visibility in the area. “Officers arrested seven suspects for drugs, two for common robberies, one for assault GBH and one for a road traffic act violation,” he said.

Simelane said the Point SAPS officers and Metro police continued their proactive streak and conducted roadblocks on Mahatma Gandhi Road, on Sunday night, 22 May where 11 drunk driving suspects were arrested.

“Point detectives also conducted a successful operation T20, on Wednesday, 18 May, which culminated in the arrest of nine suspects for crimes ranging from attempted murder, possession of counterfeit goods and common robbery,” added a proud Simelane.
