Drivers lose control of vehicles on Durban’s roads

Three people were injured in separate accidents in Durban at the weekend.

PARAMEDICS responded to two accidents in the area over the weekend.

In the first incident on Friday afternoon at around 5.40pm, two people sustained minor injuries after their vehicle overturned and fell into a stormwater drain on Alpine Road, Overport.

Netcare911 paramedics assessed both the man and woman on scene before transporting the two to a nearby hospital for further medical care.

The exact detail to the cause of the accident will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.

In the second incident on Saturday afternoon, a driver was critically injured after losing control of his vehicle and rolling on Rick Turner (Francois) Road in Umbilo.

Rescue Care Paramedics arrived on the scene to find that a single vehicle had somehow lost control and rolled ejecting the driver.

“The man had sustained critical injuries and was treated and transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for the further care that he required,” said Garrith Jamieson from Rescue Care.

He said at this stage it was unclear what caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle and roll, however SAPS were on scene and would be investigating further.
