Sharks in talks with the city

The Sharks are looking to play their rugby games at Moses Mabhida Stadium next year.

THE Sharks are in discussions with the City of Durban to play matches at the Moses Mabhida Stadium from 2017, but as yet no agreement has been concluded.

John Smit, Chief Executive, said: “We enjoy an excellent relationship with officials from the eThekwini Municipality, and we are enthusiastic about their vision for the future of our city. We are excited about the prospects at Moses Mabhida Stadium, but have made it clear that any move would have to be in the best interests of The Sharks and its supporters.”

He said before he Sharks board makes a final decision, the Sharks will conduct detailed consultations with important stakeholders like its sponsors, suiteholders and season ticket holders, a process which will continue over the next few weeks.

“The city has given its full support to this position, and is looking forward to working with The Sharks in the future,” he said.
