Kurtlee Pillay murder trial begins

Friends and family of slain student, Kurtlee Pillay, are hoping for justice as his murder trial gets underway at the Durban High Court.

THE Kurtlee Pillay murder trial got off to a slow start this morning in the Durban High Court and was adjourned until tomorrow.

Tracy Pillay patiently waited outside the court with close family members as she waited for the court proceedings to get underway and finally get justice for her son. Speaking to Berea Mail, Pillay said, “I don’t mind the wait, the trial is set for two weeks and I have faith in God.”

While the co-accused, Bilal Tayob, awaited his fate, Dinesh Nana was delayed arriving from Westville prison. The two had both received bail for the murder of Pillay, however in October last year Nana was back in the dock for robbery with aggravating circumstances and abandoned his application for bail.

The trial continues tomorrow.
