Playhouse kicks off schools programme
The Playhouse Company kicks of 2016 with an exciting environmental education production, I AM, as part of it's school's programme that will tour KZN.
THE Playhouse Company offers primary schools the perfect beginning to the year with I AM, an exciting environmental education production performed by the Playhouse Dance Residency (PDR).
I AM was choreographed by award-winning PDR member, Sandile Mkhize and boasts a message of water conservation and love for and preservation of the Earth. The play is back by popular demand after children were blown away by the production at The Playhouse Company’s South African Women’s Arts Festival (SAWAF) last year.
The production explores humankind’s relationship with the environment, the tree of life and natural elements, and the need for each and every person, no matter how young, to help to save our planet. Its emphasis on water conservation is highly relevant to South Africa in light of the current drought and consequent water restrictions.
The cost is negotiable for performances at schools during the tour and R20 per pupil in the Loft Theatre.
