WIN: Tickets to ‘Ubuntu – The Opera’ world premiére at The Playhouse

A powerhouse cast of some 80 singers will join forces with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra to present 'Ubuntu - The Opera'.

EXPERIENCE the splendour of the African voice as South Africa’s finest new-generation soloists and choral singers unite in performing an electrifying new big-stage work, ‘Ubuntu – The Opera’, by multi-talented Durban musician, Juan Burgers.

Funded by the National Lotteries Commission, this historic world premiere production gets set to spring to life as it takes the stage for five performances at The Playhouse Opera Theatre between 17 and 22 November.

Showcasing a powerhouse cast of some 80 singers, who join forces with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Lykele Temmingh, the ground-breaking new work is produced by Raphael Vilakazi, designed, directed and choreographed by David Krugel (The Spartacus of Africa), with musical direction by Burgers.

Presented by Bravo Africa Entertainment in collaboration with Esayidi TVET College as a 21st anniversary salute to South Africa’s democracy, the production honours the strength and ideals of icons such as Nelson Rolihlaha Mandela and Winnie Madikizela Mandela as it recalls our turbulent past, exhorting us we stand united as a rainbow nation in the spirit of ubuntu (‘I am because you are’).

Tickets from R120 (R90 concessions) are available through Computicket. Call 0861 915 8000 or book now online at www.computicket.com.
