Glenwood family finds lost African Grey

A Glenwood couple are hoping the owner of an African Grey would contact them after the distressed bird flew into their garden on Saturday.

A Glenwood couple are hoping to find the owner of an African Grey parrot which flew into their garden on Saturday afternoon.

According to Bess Martin, the distressed bird flew into their garden and simply “joined us for drinks” at the pool. “He just sat at the pool and looked so tried and thirsty. I thought he might be hungry and realised he must have been starving because he grabbed the apple I offered him,” she explained.

Martin said the red tailed African Grey was definitely someone's pet and very clever. “I asked around and went to the local shops to check if someone had a missing bird on the notice board and found an advert for the bird, unfortunately there was one digit missing from his owner's number so we could not get hold of him,” she added.

While Martin hopes to find the owner, she was told the birds were very expensive and in demand. “I only want to ensure he goes to his owner and since he is so clever and responds to his name, I'd like the community to assist me in finding his owner,” she said.

If you have lost your parrot or know of someone who has and know the name of the bird, please call Bess Martin on 031 2013275 or 083 3355242.
