Walkers hike for CHOC

More than 400 people donned their hiking boots and took on Sani Pass to raise funds for CHOC.

THE Sani Pass hike in aid of CHOC was once again a success. The project, which was initiated in 2010 by Joy De Witt with Agie Govender, regional manager of CHOC KZN has grown in leaps and bounds.

“At the first walk there was around 40 walkers and we were very excited that in 2015 we had over 400 walkers. CHOC has acquired many friends over the years and this year we held the walk in memory of our CHOC friend Maryke Viljoen,” said Agie. The Sani Round Table provided the meals for walkers on their return to the South African Border post and this year the South African Chefs Association got on board and provided hot chocolate and muffins at the half way mark.

The funds raised from the walk will sponsor rooms at CHOC. These rooms provide accommodation for a caregiver and child so that the child can have access to treatment.

“Our sincere thank you goes out to the De Witt family for organising this walk in association with CHOC Durban,” said Agie.
