Truck driver in ambulance crash gets bail

The truck driver who allegedly knocked a tow truck driver and fled the scene in an ambulance was granted bail last week.

THE truck driver accused of crashing into an accident scene and killing a tow truck operator last month has been granted bail of R5000.

The 24-year-old driver who apparently crashed into an accident scene on the M7 late on Saturday, 25 July where tow truck operator, Bryan Prisley was removing one of the accident vehicles. Paramedics at the scene tried to attend to the injured tow truck driver who later died at the scene and allege the truck driver jumped into the ambulance and sped off.

The ambulance was found crashed into a takeaway on the same road at the Umbilo Police Station.

The truck driver faces charges of culpable homicide, theft and reckless and negligent driving. His next court appearance is on 18 September.
