Veteran paramedic killed in Sparks Road crash

A Rescue Care paramedic lost his life in a multi-vehicle collision on Sparks Road on Tuesday afternoon.

A VETERAN Rescue Care paramedic, Adrian Donnelley, was killed in a horror collision on Sparks Road on Tuesday afternoon.

Garrith Jamieson, operations director at Rescue Care said four people were injured, one critically, when the three vehicles and a truck collided. “SAPS Search and Rescue and Durban Fire Department used the jaws of life to free the injured from the wreckage,” he said. All the injured were transported to various Durban hospitals.

“Our fallen hero, Adrian Donnelley, was off-duty at the time of the crash which involved multiple vehicles. He was badly injured and died at the scene. The paramedic had a distinguished record of service and was loved by his colleagues. The Rescue Care family is devastated by this sudden loss and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family,” said Jamieson.

Sparks Road was closed after the collision and motorists were encouraged to steer clear of the road while police worked to clear the scene.
