Whoonga attacks: Innocent run for cover

THE aftermath of an attack on Whoonga Park saw blood shed in the once leafy suburb of Glenwood.

Innocent people were injured, their damaged bodies strewn along Che Guevara, Esther Roberts and Clark Road. Ambulances rushed to the scene as security companies, SAPS and Metro came out in force but seemed woefully unprepared and unable to quell the violence.

Response from SAPS received on Tuesday afternoon was woefully  inadequate. Provincial police spokesman Colonel Jay Naicker, said in response to queries from Berea Mail that charges of assault GBH and malicious damage to property were being investigated by Umbilo SAPS.

“Five people were assaulted by an unknown man. They sustained injuries on the head and body. No arrests have been made, investigations are continuing.”

At the time of going to press, there had been no response from the mayor or city manager’s office and nothing was forthcoming from Metro Police.
