SAPS spreads anti-drug awareness at local school

The campaign aims to raise awareness among schoolchildren as to the dangers and disadvantages of taking drugs.

LEARNERS at Durban Secondary and FET Academy were addressed on the dangers of drugs as Durban Central SAPS partnered with the South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (SANCA).

Captain Muzi Maphumulo of SAPS and Sikhosiphi Mnguni of SANCA visited the school to raise awareness on drug abuse, general crime and what it means to have a criminal record.

The students were addressed on the danger of drugs from a social and legal perspective.

“These programmes are informed by the increasing numbers of youth that are getting hooked on drugs. Most of them are staying on the streets because of drug addictions,” said Maphumulo.
