SAPS seek assistance in nabbing sexual assault suspect

The Durban Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is seeking assistance from the public to locate a man suspected to be involved in a sexual-assualt case of a thirteen-year-old schoolgirl.

DURBAN Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit detectives are seeking for assistance in solving a case of sexual assault they are investigating.

According to Detective Constable Tshabalala of the South African Police Service (SAPS), it is alleged that on September 8 at 15:30, a 13-year-old victim had finished her extramural sports classes when a vehicle stopped at her school gate by Bellevue and King Dinuzulu Road.

“The driver was known to the victim, and they drove to a secluded destination. The driver offered her two T-shirts that he’d bought for her. She accepted them. As they were driving back to where the victim was taken, the driver touched her breast and thighs without her consent,” said Tshabalala.

Tshbabala says that when the victim asked the perpetrator what he was doing and to let go of her, he let her out of the vehicle by the pavement and drove off.

“The driver was driving a gold sedan with a known registration. Police believe that the male attached in the distributed picture can be of assistance in solving the case,” he said.
