Mothwa receives Mandela Day visitors

There was singing dancing and lots of fun at the Mandela Day celebration.

MEMBERS of Bulwer Safety and Urban Regeneration Forum (BSURF) visited Mothwa Haven on Saturday, July 16, just ahead of Mandela Day.

“BSURF members enjoyed spending time with the wonderful folks at Mothwa Haven. This was to celebrate Mandela Day on July 18,”said Heather Roose, BSURF chairperson.

“We were joined by Kira Mendu, and the talented Sylvester ‘Sly’ Dunn, who entertained the elderly with his amazing voice, singing some golden oldies for the folk. It was lovely to see the elderly enjoying Sly’s music, singing along, dancing and having lots of fun,”added Roos.

The Mandela Day fun brightened up the weekend for residents.

“It was absolutely awesome to think that there are people out there who think of us, too,” said resident Estelle Molloy.

Residents and staff from Mothwa Haven ‘played it forward’ as they visited Durban Child and Youth Care Centre on Monday, July 18 to deliver lunch packs.
