Driver crashes through busy Morningside restaurant, nine injured

There were several families in the busy restaurant when the vehicle crashed through the window.

A VEHICLE hurtled through a busy Morningside restaurant window in a serious collision on the corner of Sandile Thusi Road and Seventh Avenue in Morningside at about 10:30 today, July 5.

This comes just hours after 11 people were injured in a taxi crash this morning at about 07:30 in Umbilo.

A total of nine people, including adults and children, sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious as the vehicle tore through the restaurant.

“The exact cause of the collision is unknown, however, a vehicle crashed through a local restaurant that was extremely busy with multiple families socialising,” said Garrith Jamieson of ALS Paramedics which arrived on the scene along with Netcare 911 and Emer-G-Med Paramedics.
