VIDEO: Glenwood home damaged as rain rages across Durban

Ruble spilled into Mazisi Kunene Road as the wall of the home crumbled.

“THERE was a vibration through the house. Then we started getting calls from our neighbours.”

These are the words of Glenwood resident Bruce Soutar, who was heading to bed when his boundary wall collapsed just before midnight on Monday, April 11.

Soutar is among many residents who have seen damage to their properties during the recent heavy rains and flooding across the City.

“When we started getting calls, we didn’t think it was important because it was raining so hard. As we saw the damage we started to flag down cars and redirect the traffic. We moved the big boulders off the road and tried to pick up the rubble,” he said.

While he is insured, Soutar faces a lengthy repair period before his home will be restored. Don’t miss this week’s Berea Mail for the full story.
