Beware of fraudsters selling municipal jobs

The eThekwini Municipality urged victims to report these fraudsters to the City Integrity and Investigations Unit.

ETHEKWINI Municipality has sent out a warning about individuals using names of senior municipal officials to defraud members of the public.

The City’s communications officer, Msawakhe Mayisela said these individuals promise people jobs, tenders and other benefits or services and then solicit bribes. The individuals claim the bribes are being asked for by senior municipal officials.

“Municipal jobs, tenders and other services are not for sale. Members of the public should never pay for these,” stated Mayisela.

The municipality calls on anyone who has been defrauded in this manner to report the matter to the City Integrity and Investigations Unit on 0800 202020 or via email on ombuds@durban.gov.za.
