Durban FCS seek assistance in rape case

The Durban FCS unit believe the man in the image will be able to help solve a rape case.

THE Durban Central Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit appeals to the community to assist with locating a man who they believe can help solve a case of rape.

The spokesperson for the Durban Central SAPS, Captain Muzi Maphumulo said that on August 18, at about  12:30,  it is alleged that a female minor (12) was walking on North Beach in Durban, when she was approached by a security guard.

Maphumulo said the security guard is believed to have offered the girl some chips.

“The victim got sleepy after eating the chips,” said Maphumulo. “She was taken into one of the rooms near the beach. The next day she boarded a taxi with the same person to the informal settlement house in Verulam, where she was sexually molested.”

The victim was released by the suspect on August 20.

A case of rape and kidnapping is being investigated by the Durban Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.

Police have urged community members with information to contact the investigating officer, Detective Constable Dludla, on 061 375 4876 or to call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
