Morningside surfer makes waves
The talented surfer is one of 17 members of Made for More, a non-profit organisation that empowers people with disabilities through sport.

MORNINGSIDE para-surfer, James Sinclair (12) is among those who were selected to represent South Africa at the World Para Surfing Championship from December 7 to 11.
The talented surfer is one of 17 members of Made for More, a non-profit and public benefit organisation that aims to empower and equip people with disabilities through sport.
Commenting on the upcoming trip, Sinclair said, “I am excited and nervous but very happy.”
Sinclair, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, said he experiences a sense of freedom when he surfs. The youngster has been surfing since he was 10 years old.

“My favorite move is dropping into a big wave. I love the freedom of surfing. There are no laws in the sea and I love the speed on my board when I’m surfing,” he said.

He competed in the South African champs men’s prone assist division earlier this year to qualify for the US championships.
“The event was fun. My biggest challenge was catching waves in the time limit,” said Sinclair.

He said the trip to the USA will be his first time travelling abroad.
“Our team is looking for sponsorship to get us to the USA. We have been fundraising as well,” added Sinclair.
