Elderly man seriously injured after crashing into Glenwood tree

Advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilise the driver on the scene.

THE Jaws-of-Life were needed to free an elderly man trapped in a vehicle wreckage after a serious crash on Bulwer Road in Glenwood this afternoon (October, 7).

Spokesperson for EMER-G-MED Paramedics, Kyle Van Reenen said paramedics arrived on scene, together with Netcare911, after reports were received of a serious accident.

“A light motor vehicle was found to have crashed into a tree, leaving the driver, an elderly man, trapped in the wreckage with serious injuries,” he said.

Advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilise him, while the Jaws-of-Life were used to cut him free.

The injured man was then taken to a nearby hospital.
