SAPS arrest 15 for possession of dangerous weapons in Point area

Four illegal firearms were also seized during the operation. 

A TOTAL of 15 suspects were arrested in Durban’s Point area while four illegal firearms were recovered along with gas guns, paintball guns and drugs.

This during a special joint operation held on August 13.

Commenting on the operation, provincial spokesperson for the SAPS, Colonel Thembeka Mbele said: “The aim of the operation was to root-out all criminal activities and suspects involved in crime.”

“During the operation the team managed to arrest 15 suspects for various cases such as illegal possession of firearms, possession of dangerous weapons as well as immigration act,” she added.

Illegal firearms were also seized during the operation.

“Four firearms with 56 rounds of ammunition were seized by police. Police also recovered two gas guns, two paintball guns, drugs, knives and clothes,” said Mbele.

The arrested suspects appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday, August 16.
