KZN organisations unite to save communities affected by food shortages

Sihle Nxasana, who works with KZN Response, said working together makes them stronger and more efficient.

AS non-profit organisations unite in their efforts to help rebuild affected communities, KZN Response joined in to help alleviate the food shortages.

KZN Christian Council, Zoë-Life, The Domino Foundation, The Red Cross Society, and CityHope Disaster Relief are all part of KZN Response. Through their collective efforts, they have been arranging for truck loads of food donations and essential items to be delivered to communities affected by the recent looting and unrest.  Tons of maize, donated by Premier Foods, was also sent to KZN from Gauteng.

Sihle Nxasana, who works with KZN Response, said working together makes them stronger and more efficient.

“Each organisation has individual areas of expertise and strengths. We can achieve so much more when we all join forces around a single need, streamlining our operations and working together,” he said.

A big part of their outreach is identifying where and what the needs are and match them with donor responses.

To maximize efficiency and community reach, KZN Response also finds organisations in each instance working directly within the affected areas, to partner with and support.

Their network is able to assist beneficiaries in the main cities and towns, as well as through rural community structures.  KZN Response invites corporates, organisations, individuals, and groups who want to get involved in any way, to do so.
