DUT features in top 100 in international ranking

THE Durban University of Technology (DUT) was ranked in the Top 100 for Ethical Value and in the Top 300 of all institutions of higher learning, in the World’s Universities with Real Impact (WURI) 2021 rankings.

The international rankings were recently announced by the founding director of the WURI rankings, Professor Hwy Chang Moon, Professor Emeritus, Seoul National University in South Korea.

“We believe that your experiences with innovative programmes at DUT are worthy to share with other institutions of higher education. Given the immense challenges brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic since 2020, such experiences are now more valuable than ever,” said Moon.

Commenting on the two rankings, DUT Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, Innovation and Engagement, Professor Sibusiso Moyo said: “Both these categories demonstrate that we are continuing to make an impact, in alignment with the Stewardship and Society perspectives of ENVISION2030. We thank the WURI Rankings Team for recognising the value and expertise that DUT brings to the fore both in its regional and global contexts, especially during this period of the pandemic and all its related impact on higher learning institutions and the local economies. Gratitude also goes to all our staff and students as well as our quad-helix partners who continue to contribute to advancing the work of the University and its strategic imperatives within our region.”

The WURI rankings follow shortly after DUT was ranked second in South Africa and 102 in the World by Times Higher Education Young University 2021. The accolades continue to raise the DUT’s global profile and speaks directly to the ENVISION2030 strategy that the University has implemented.
