Durban SPCA appeals for help amid KZN unrest

Marketing manager for the association, Tanya Fleischer, said while residents can't drop off items at their premises in Springfield Park, they were calling on donations in order to purchase items in bulk from their suppliers.

LONG queues at supermarkets and a fuel shortage around the province have left the Durban & Coast SPCA in need of community assistance.

Marketing manager for the association, Tanya Fleischer, said while residents can’t drop off items at their premises in Springfield Park, they were calling on donations in order to purchase items in bulk from their suppliers.

“Our dogs and cats need food, and that could soon be in very short supply. We anticipate that as soon as we reopen, we’re going to be flooded with hundreds more dogs and cats surrendered by owners who can no longer afford to keep them.

“With long queues outside supermarkets and pet shops, the shortage of fuel, and the ongoing volatility of the situation, we cannot ask you to drop pet food off at our premises. But we would be extremely grateful for financial donations of any amount, which can be used to order in bulk direct from our suppliers,” she said.
