UKZN SRC fundraises for students in need

The university will provide the necessary support to the SRC with the collection and administering of donations through the auspices of the UKZN Foundation.

THE Student Representative Council (SRC) at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) has embarked on a fundraising campaign that aims to fundraise R3 million.

The fundraiser is being initiated to assist in reducing the student financial debt of students whose family income is below R350 000 and those students whose family income is between R350 000 and R600 000.

Normah Zondo, acting executive director of Corporate Relations said the SRC and all its structures will each contribute 30 per cent of their 2020 budget toward off-setting the student debt.

“UKZN is acutely aware of the financial constraints experienced by many of our students and their families. We are indeed proud that the SRC is taking the lead with this much-needed initiative,” said Zondo.

She said the university will provide the necessary support to the SRC with the collection and administering of donations through the auspices of the UKZN Foundation.
