School Governing Body elections to kick off in Durban

The SGB is a statutory body of parents, teachers, non-teaching stuff and learners who seek to work with the KZN Education Department.

PARENTS who are interested in becoming part of the School Governing Body are urged to submit their applications.  

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education will launch this year’s SGB elections in Durban on Thursday (28 January).

The SGB is a statutory body of parents, teachers, non-teaching stuff and learners who seek to work with the KZN Education Department “to promote the wellbeing and effectiveness of the school community thereby enhancing effective teaching and learning.” 

Kwazi Mshengu, MEC for Education, urged people to join the government in governing. 

“We urge all those eligible to vote to participate in these very important elections in order to ensure that our schools are managed effectively by the democratically elected people,” he said.

The launch will take place at Dokkies in Glenwood, Durban at 9.30am.
