Four Durban relatives nabbed for kidnapping and assault

A woman's relatives attacked her after she was accused of having a relationship with her relative's boyfriend.

FOUR suspects are expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court today (11 January) on charges of kidnapping, robbery and assault.

This comes after a 21-year-old woman was approached by family members, while waiting at the Tugela Ferry taxi rank in Durban at around 2pm on 7 January, said Sgt Zanele Khomo from Durban Central SAPS.

According to Khomo, the family claimed that one of the family members wanted to speak to the young woman.

“She went with them to her relative, whom she was attacked by after being accused of having a sexual relationship with her boyfriend. She was forced into a taxi by the relatives who drove with her to Inanda where they continued assaulting her with a hammer and robbed her of cash,” said Khomo.

“The suspects were arrested the following day by Durban Central and Inanda police officers,” said Khomo.
