The Dbn Fest is a celebration of all things uniquely Durban, from bunny chows and killer curries, contemporary design and brilliant Zulu beadwork, cool vibes and rickshaw rides, the Sharks and cricket at Kingsmead … there’s so much more to Durban than its Golden Mile.
TO showcase the rich cultural heritage of South Africa’s favourite year-round holiday destination, Olive and Oak Consulting is marrying music, food, fashion and arts to create the DBN FEST on Sunday 8 December.
A number of colourful events across the city will celebrate all things Durban in a proudly laid back Durban manner and create a memorable Durban experience that will connect with visitors and locals alike.

We’ve set out to create a truly eThekwini experience that brings together young and old to play, shop, eat, drink, dance, relax and experience what Durban has to offer. We’re about the outdoors, the sport, the nightlife. In short, Durban has something for everyone. The DBN FEST will package that special vibe that clearly shows that Durban should not only be remembered as a beach destination but also as a diverse and unforgettable east coast experience,” says Syanda Sibiya
Although the heartbeat of the DBN FEST will be a celebration of fashion and music in the Botanic Gardens, satellite marquees at various attractions across the city will highlight everything from the rich fashion and textile heritage in Victoria Street to a culinary celebration in Florida Road. Here, stalls will allow passers-by to experience the “tastes of Durban” – from eastern Indian cuisine to the traditional African cuisine, from spicy samoosas and chilly bites to African specialties like “runaways”. Master chef judge, Benny Masekwamemg, will serve up four fascinating cooking demonstrations.
The Botanical Gardens will be home all things creative – from traditional arts and crafts to high fashion. Top Durban designers will take to the ramp. There’ll be pop up shops in the nearby marquee and, once all the exotic creations are back on their hangers, there’ll be an after party of note featuring an array for KwaZulu-Natal artists, comedians, DJ’s and dancers including Ifani, Big Nuzz, Dreamteam, DJ Dimples, Black Coffee, Moneoa, Museeq IQ and isicathamiya Group, Zulu Messengers.
