KZN art gallery promotes recycling through exhibition

The exhibition is aimed at inceasing awareness and the beauty of recycling.

This year the KwaZulu-Natal Society of the Arts embraces the circular economy, aimed at eliminating waste and reducing the consumption of finite resources.

Instead of linear consumption where goods are produced, used once and then sent to landfill, circular systems support re-use, repair, refurbishment and recycling to create a closed-loop of consumption.

This reduces inputs of resources and accumulation of waste, pollution and carbon emissions.

The KZNSA invites proposals for the widest interpretation of this theme, from second-hand (pre-loved) items that simply need a new home, to repair and renovation specialists (clothes darning; shoe repair; furniture refitting) who would like to set up work spaces in the gallery.

As a fundraising initiative, KZNSA is also creating a pop-up charity store, and welcome donations of unwanted clothes, shoes or homeware from members of the public.

These will be curated into exciting displays of one-off finds.

Drop-offs of donations are welcome.at the offices on 163 Bulwer Road.
