Sex offenders sentenced to five terms of life imprisonment

A total of 15 suspects were convicted and sentenced to five terms of life imprisonment during September.

KWAZULU-NATAL provincial commissioner, Lt Gen Khombinkosi Jula, said police in the province will continue their fight to put sexual offenders behind bars.

This comes after 15 suspects were convicted and sentenced to five terms of life imprisonment, as well as a total of 95 years imprisonment for sexual related cases during September.

“It is heartbreaking to listen to women saying they have lost hope in the justice system and are left to fight the war on their own. I want to assure every woman in this province that police will continue to fight, protect and work diligently to put sexual predators behind bars. The sentences handed over to the perpetrators during September are proof that we are leaving no stone unturned,” said Jula.
