Drugs worth over R200 000 seized in Durban’s Point area
Police recovered methcathonone, crystal meth, rock cocaine, cocaine powder and mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of more than R200 000.
TWO men are in police custody after they were arrested by police officers from the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit on 4 September, and are facing charges of possession and dealing of drugs.
Commenting on the case, provincial SAPS spokesman Capt Nqobile Gwala said an operation was conducted in the Point policing area where these men were arrested at a residential premises on Gillepsie Street in Point.

“Police recovered methcathonone, crystal meth, rock cocaine, cocaine powder and mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of more than R200 000. The drugs were found concealed in the bedroom, and intelligence was received that they were about to be distributed to runners for trading. The suspects are also facing a charge for contravening the Immigration Act. They will appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court today, Monday, 7 September,” said Gwala.
KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Khombinkosi Jula applauded the police officers for the arrests and assures the community that similar operations are continuing in the province to root out the drug trade.
