Police seek information in Cato Manor rape case

A 20-year-old woman was asleep when she was awoken by three unknown men who robbed and raped her at knifepoint.

THE Brighton Beach Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) is appealing to the community for information on the whereabouts of two men who detectives believe can be of assistance in a rape case they are investigating.

Captain Nqobile Gwala, provincial SAPS spokesperson, said this comes after an incident on 4 July at around 4am in the Wiggins area.

“A 20-year-old woman was asleep when she was awoken by three unknown men. At knifepoint, they demanded cash and cellphones. Two men raped her and took cash and takkies before fleeing the scene,” said Gwala. 

Gwala said charges of house robbery and rape were opened for investigation by Cato Manor SAPS.
