VIDEO: Morningside water leak left unattended for 5 months

The water from a leaking pipe in Milner Road is running worse than ever.

A WATER leak in Milner Road in Morningside is still running unabated, following numerous complaints to eThekwini Municipality.

Berea Mail reported on the issue in July, when ward councillor Ernest Smith visited the site to speak to residents about the issue.

The leaking water pipe has been reported to the municipality since before lockdown.

Resident, Beate Kleim said several times residents received different reference numbers and escalation assurances, however the water continues to run months later.

She said she was frustrated with the situation and lack of response from the municipality.

“The water is running worse than ever. I spoke to councillor Smith again and he said he would escalate it once more. I am frustrated beyond words,” she said.

Smith said this was an ongoing battle and only one of many cases reported to him. He said this was a repetitive issue as the infrastructure in the area was old and needed to be replaced.

Attempts to obtain a comment from the eThekwini Municipality proved futile.
