Morningside mom’s murder case struck from court roll
The Morningside mother, who was charged with the murder of her seven-year-old son, committed the offence at an uMhlanga Bed and Breakfast in 2018.
THE case against Megan Prins, the mother charged with murdering her seven-year-old son, has been struck from the Durban High Court record.
This after a death certificate confirmed that Prins, who lived in Morningside, died days ahead of her trial date earlier this month.
The mother allegedly fed her son, Sloan (7) adult medication before smothering him in his sleep at an uMhlanga Bed and Breakfast in 2018.
It is believed she tried to commit suicide thereafter.
Regional spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority, Natasha Kara said the case was dropped once a death certificate was supplied.

“Today (27 July) in the Durban High Court, the State requested that the matter against Megan Prins be struck off the court roll as the accused has died. Prins, who was charged with the murder of her seven-year-old son, committed the offence at a Bed and Breakfast establishment in July 2018,” said Kara
“The State, represented by Senior State Advocate Denardo Macdonald, provided the Court with a death certificate confirming that Prins had died,” she added.
The presiding officer noted the evidence and the matter was duly struck off the court roll.
