Missing teacher sought by Sydenham police

Luyanda Perfect Xolo, (23), from Clare Estate has not been seen since 1 June.

POLICE in Sydenham are appealing to the community to assist in locating a missing person, Luyanda Perfect Xolo, (23), from Clare Estate.

Col Thembeka Mbele, provincial SAPS spokesperson, said it is alleged that on 1 June at 8pm, Xolo had been partying with friends at Burnwood Road Park when a fight broke out, but according to witnesses, he stood aside and did not take part in the dispute.

“When everything subsided, they all went to Candover Road informal settlement which is near the park, and continued to party. Another fight broke out and everyone ran in different directions. He has not been seen since,” said Mbele.

A missing person inquiry was opened at Sydenham police station for investigation.

Mbele said a Search and Rescue Team and the K9 Unit were alerted and a search was conducted in the area with negative results.

“Police are continuing the search with their dogs and local police. The victim is a teacher at a school in Tongaat and he wears glasses,” she said.
