Weekly quiz goes online

THE Weekly Quiz Evening which is usually held at Stella Sports Club, on a Wednesday, has moved online.

Organisers, the Quiz Guys, Dave Wright and Hylton Forge, said the quiz would’ve celebrated its fourth anniversary at Stella this month, but because of lockdown, they have had to change their plans.

“We have resorted to Zoom so that we can still host this popular quiz evening. We have held the quiz online for the past seven weeks and it’s been fun, although different,” said Dave.

The quiz is hosted on Zoom on a Wednesday at 7pm and lasts around 90 minutes.

Participants are asked 80 questions during the quiz.

“The emphasis is on fun, and it has been going well. A lot of our people who usually supported the quiz evenings at Stella have come over and we are looking to add more people. It will be nice to have a pool of people as some people can’t play every week. So far we have between 20 and 25 players a week,” said Hylton.

Cost is R60 a person, and a portion of the money goes to charity.

“We will be handing R1500 over to Highway Hospice for this last month. We will choose a different charity each month so that we can spread the love,” said Dave.

He said he and Hylton plan on starting to host quiz fundraisers for organisations, which would be tailor made for the audience.

To get involved, contact Dave on 083 353 6925.

Dave will send banking details and on payment, will send the Zoom meeting invite.
