Berea SAPS acted swiftly to robbery on Goble Road

One suspect was found inside the apartment and immediately arrested, while his two accomplices exited the home through a back window and jumped over the fence.

BEREA police reacted swiftly to a home robbery in Goble Road, Morningside on Monday and arrested two men, aged 20 and 24.

According to police it is alleged that three suspects armed with a knife accosted an elderly couple at their apartment on Goble Road.

They threatened them with a knife and demanded cash.

The suspects stole cash, jewellery, vehicle keys as well as the housekeys.

Berea police were alerted to the robbery soon after it occurred and quickly responded.

Police gave chase and managed to arrest one of the men, who, together with his accomplice arrested in the house, was detained at the Berea Police Station.

All the stolen property was recovered. The two suspects were expected to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court today.

“The swift response by police officers which led to the arrest of the suspects is highly commended. We will continue to urge people to always be alert to prevent criminal activities and remain safe at all times,” said KZN provincial Comissioner, Lt Gneneral Khombinkosi Jula.
