Police seize unregistered medicine worth R60 000 in Durban CBD

This comes after police received information regarding the sale of unregistered medicine on Queen Street in the Durban CBD.

POLICE officers from the Durban Accident Combatting Unit arrested two suspects aged 36 and 37 for selling unregistered medicines on Saturday, 9 May.

The officers received information that a shop on Queen Street in the Durban CBD was selling unregistered medicines and arranged a test buy at the premises.

The suspects were arrested when they were found in possession of various medicines with a value of R60 000.

Among the items seized were skin lightning medicines and schedule four (4) medication that can only be acquired through a prescription.

The suspects have been charged for selling unregistered medicinal products.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula commended the police officers for the continuous clampdown on the illegal sale of medication and prohibited substances.

“Such operations will continue until we rid the province of those who ply their trade by selling unregistered as well as scheduled medication,” he said.
