Durban police seize R10 ooo worth of drugs from e-hail passenger

Police officers from the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit are on high-alert on the illegal drug trade in the province.

POLICE have made another drug bust in the Point.

This follows a recent sting operation that led to the seizure of drugs worth R47 000 in Point Road, and the arrest of three suspects.

According SAPS Provincial Commissioner, Lt General Khombinkosi Jula, police officers from the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit are on high-alert on the illegal drug trade in the province.

During the most recent operation, carried out at the Point and surrounding areas where police suspected criminal activities were taking place, an e-hailing vehicle driving along Smith Street was stopped and a search was conducted.

Police discovered four clear plastic pockets containing heroin on the passenger.

The total value of the recovered drugs is estimated at R10 000.

A 28-year-old man was placed under arrest for possession of drugs at Point SAPS.

He is set to appear the Durban Magistrates’ Court this week.

Jula praised the team on their efforts to root-out drugs in the province.
