Cops seize drugs worth R47 000 in Point Road sting op

Police arrest drug dealers on Point Road.

POLICE seized drugs worth R47 000 on Point Road during a sting operation.

Three suspects have been arrested on drug charges and appeared on Tuesday at the Durban Magistrate Court.

The Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit and the eThekwini Central Trio Task Team were out in the Point area to root out drug dealers.

“Police officers held observation at a business premise on Rutherford Street and after observing drug dealing taking place, they swooped on the premises,” said Brigadier Jay Naicker, SAPS provincial spokesperson.

Naicker said a suspect was found with rock cocaine worth R15 000 in street value.

In the same building, police also caught two suspects in possession of 5000 capsules and 28 pieces of rock cocaine valued at R32 000.

Luitenant Gerneral Khombinkosi Jula, KZN Police Commissioner, urged citizens to report any drug activity to the police on 0800 00 10111.
