Four wicket loss for Quins

Quins lost to East Coast in a league match on Sunday.

FIVE Harlequins Cricket Club’s teams were engaged in league matches last weekend.

The first team posted a well below par target of 125 runs against East Coast at Harlequins, being dismissed in the 44th over. Quins’ top order batsmen performed admirably with Heath Manicom top scoring with 41 runs, Brandon De Mellion making 15 runs, Sheldon Spindler 27 runs and Kevin Kettle 12 runs.

In response, East Coast at one stage had lost six wickets for 39 runs, however Quins’ trio of spin bowlers were ineffectual and were unable to add significant value to the overall bowling attack, allowing East Coast’s middle order to consolidate their innings and take their team through to a victory by four wickets.

Other team results: Quins’ 2nds vs Silver Saints 2: Quins 2 won by 106 runs; Quins’ 3rds lost to Crusaders 3 by 150 runs; Quins’ 4ths beat ACC by one run; Quins’ 6ths vs DHS Rhythm 8: Quins 6 won by 50 runs.
