“In view of the ongoing disruptions, a decision has been taken to suspend the academic programme with immediate effect on all campuses and for all colleges, for the rest of the week until Friday, 7 February,” said a university statement.

The HIV & AIDS Support Unit was burned down on Monday during student protests.

The UKZN communications department added no registrations would take place during the suspension period.

The university has been embroiled in a number of student protests for the past two weeks.

Students are protesting the university’s policy that requires them to pay 15% of their historical debt to be cleared for registration.
