Missing teen’s body recovered from Durban beach

The teen was swept out to sea when he and three friends attempted to cross Blue Lagoon estuary on Sunday afternoon.

The body of a teenager who went missing at Blue Lagoon on Sunday was recovered on Tuesday at Durban Country Club beach by Metro Police Search and Rescue and SAPS Search and Rescue units.

The 17-year-old teen, was positively identified by his parents.

According to Parbhoo Sewpersadh of Metro Police the teen was swept out to sea when he and three friends attempted to cross Blue Lagoon estuary on Sunday afternoon.

Metro Police Search and Rescue and SAPS Search and Rescue teams together with lifeguards and Life Response 24, responded and performed an initial surf and shore search but had to call off their efforts due to poor sea conditions and failing light.
