Take note of Amashova road closures

The route for the 106km, 65km and 35km road races is completely closed to traffic.

THE Tsogo Sun Amashova Classic Cycle Race is on Sunday, 20 October from Pietermaritzburg to Durban. The race is an annual cycle event that attracts around 15 000 cyclists.

The main race will start at 6.15am in Pietermaritzburg for the 160km event, followed by the 106km start at 6.45am. The 65km ride will start at Cato Ridge at 5.30am and the 35km fun ride is expected to start at 5.30am from Hillcrest. The cut off time for the race is 3pm.

Durban Metropolitan Police Service will police the race from Georgedale Road through Outer and Inner West Regions onto the N3 (Westbound) down Monty Naicker and left into Walnut Road continuing into Masabalala Yengwa Avenue, right up to the promenade under the M4 Bridge, and right towards Suncoast Casino.

Road closures:

Chief Albert Luthuli Street to Alexandra Road – 4am to to 10.30am.

Alexandra Road to Umlaas Road – 4.30am to noon.

Umlaas Road to R103 Inchanga/1000 Hills – 4.30am to 12.45pm.

103 Inchanga to Botha’s Hill Butchery – 4am to 2pm.

R103 Patna Road to Kassier Road/M13 on ramp – 4am to 2pm.

M13 Hillcrest to M13 Westville – 4am to 3pm.

M13 Westville to M13 45th Cutting – 4am to 3pm.

N3 Outbound to David Webster Street – 5am to 3.30pm.

David Webster Street (Leopold Street) – 4am to 3.45pm.

Masabalala Yengwa Avenue (South Bound) – 4am to 4pm.
