Pledge your support for rhinos

The event raises funds for various projects which include the Rhino Conservation Project, the Maloti Drakensberg Vulture Project and the Crane Conservation Project.

TRAIL runners, adventure enthusiasts and keen conservationists will join forces for the fourth edition of the Rhino Peak Challenge on Saturday, 5 October.

The 2019 Rhino Peak Challenge sees a handful of South Africa’s top trail runners and some of the country’s leading conservationists and adventure enthusiasts rallying together to summit the iconic Rhino Peak in the Southern Region of the Maloti Drakensberg World Heritage Site. The small group of runners will look to raise awareness of the plight of rhinos globally as well as local Rhino Peak and Southern Drakensberg inhabitants and fellow endangered species, the Bearded Vulture, Crowned, Wattles and Blue Crane.

While participation in the event is limited to a handful of elite athletes, everyday heroes, corporate teams and people of influence, the event and the participants encourage corporates and the general public alike to get involved in the event by pledging an amount towards an individual competitor’s efforts. 2016 saw the event raise nearly R320 000, 2017 raised R303 000 and then last year the event raised R383 938 for various projects which include the Rhino Conservation Project, the Maloti Drakensberg Vulture Project and the Crane Conservation Project.
