UMBILO residents may be able to take a dip sooner than later. After numerous requests regarding the progress of repairs at Tesoriere Pool in Umbilo, Councillor Mmabatho Tembe says she is hoping the pool will be open again in time for the summer season.
Tembe said the pool has been closed for repairs for the past few months, as the department was waiting for the financial year end and the allocation of the budget for the refurbishment of the pool, which was an expensive process.

“The pool couldn’t remain open during this time as there were broken tiles which needed attention. There was a site meeting at the pool recently and now we are waiting for the official contractor to be appointed,” she said.
Tembe said work on the pool repairs should start by the end of September, and it is envisioned work will be complete by the end of October.
“I will follow up on the progress, as I am currently awaiting feedback from officials,” she said.
