Durban SAPS arrests man found with police uniform and car jamming device

The man is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrates’ Court today.

A POLICE uniform, a car jamming device, a 9mm pistol and R6 100 of counterfeit money was found in the Durban, home of a 36-year-old man on Wednesday.

The suspect was arrested after the Durban Public Order Police Project Team swooped in on his St Andrews Street flat at 3.30pm, said KZN police spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbele.

Police had reportedly received information that the suspect was in possession of a firearm.

Mbele said during the search police also found eleven rounds of ammunition in the flat.

“A preliminary investigation was conducted at the scene and it revealed that the firearm was stolen from a police official in 2016 in Durban Central,” she said.

The suspect was charged with possession of a firearm without a license, possession of police uniform, possession of car jamming device and possession of counterfeit money.

He is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrates’ Court today.
