PinkDrive ready for a hat trick of victories

The Totalsports Women’s Race supports charity PinkDrive at events in Durban, Joburg and Cape Town.

FOR the first time since the event’s inception in 2001, South Africa’s largest Women’s Day celebration, the Totalsports Women’s Race, supporting PinkDrive, will be hosted on one day, 9 August, across three major cities Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town.

PinkDrive, a non-profit company, is committed to improving breast cancer awareness, education, and providing and offering free services to the medically uninsured across South Africa. PinkDrive will

offer free clinical breast examinations and educating on the importance of self- breast examinations at the race.

Janice Benecke, PinkDrive KZN administrator, said: “We love this race in Durban. Even the men get dressed up (in pink) and join in the fun.”

According to Fébé Meyer, PinkDrive Marketing Manager, the significance of hosting this event on Women’s Day adds so much more meaning to this event.

“This is a day where women (and men) and families can unite and commemorate not only National Women’s Day, but also think of those on their journey with breast cancer. The funds received enable us to keep our existing fleet on the road, while delivering our free cancer screening services to the medically uninsured people of South Africa.”

The 2019 Totalsports Women’s Race will be at Kings Park athletics track in Durban. The 10km event starts at 8am and the 5km race is at 8.15am.

Entry is R130 for the 10km and (licensed runner) and R160 for the 10km (temporary license included) and R100 for the 5km.

Entries are open online until Friday, 26 July via: www.totalsportswomensrace.com or instore at Totalsports Stores at Westville Pavillion, Gateway, Musgrave, The Bluff and West Street until Monday, 15 July.
