Two appear in court on robbery charges

Two suspected street robbers appeared at Durban Magistrate’s Court this week.

TWO suspects appeared in Durban Magistrate’s Court on 3 June on charges of robbery.

According to Capt SM Maphumulo from eThekwini Central Cluster SAPS, the two men were arrested by Durban Central police on Friday, 31 May after they were identified positively by a victim who had been robbed by the men earlier that day.

“It is alleged that the man was walking along Lancers Road in Durban when he was approached by the suspects who threatened him with a knife and took two cellphones from him before walking away. The victim waved down passing police after the incident who immediately chased the suspects and arrested them. The cellphones which belonged to the victim were recovered in their possession,” he said.

Maphumulo said one of the suspects was out on bail from another case and an application was made to revoke his bail.
